The Jumia Group, formerly Kaymu, is an online platform that has helped to economically empower tens of thousands of traders in Africa in the past 3 years through e-commerce.
Jumia helps traders take advantage of e-commerce by educating and improving their digital literacy, providing access to delivery partners to expand the traders’ markets and advising them in product sourcing and creation by similar markets’ analyses.
This case study video shows the impact of e-commerce on the lives of 3 local traders in Cameroon and how they managed to expand their businesses, hire staff, and even create additional e-commerce opportunities.
It also highlights the challenges faced on the African continent – very limited access to internet, lack of reliable address and postal systems that hamper delivery services as well as a low bank account penetration rate and access to credit.
